Maintenance tasks are easy to do and typically for garden tools are required only once a year. If the tasks are done at end of the season, the tools are ready to use when the season starts, and they are better protected from corrosion during storage. Many Power Tool companies firmly instruct users to read " Handling Instructions" before using a Power Tool. But I believe that is not enough. What will be ideal is if you can see a demonstration of how the tool works from an experienced user, preferably a technician who has the manufacturers approval.
